Rarity (like white truffles*), exclusivity like TED (with out his x), and access to people you don’t normally cross paths with (like Beyoncé or Keanu Reeves) is our 6th item to consider when researching your networking events. If it’s an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often, hard to get into, and/or with people outside your normal sphere of influence, you bet your sweet bippy stakes are high. How do you want to show up for that? Practiced or petrified?

#6 Networking Event Rarity or Exclusivity
Is the event exclusive, invite-only, or hosted by a group you rarely get access to? Are there key people attending that you don’t often cross paths with?
Rare/Exclusive = High Stakes
There aren't a lot of tips from the Practiced Professional on how to know if it's a rare or exclusive opportunity, you just... know. However there are a ton of tips on how to prepare - many of which we've covered in our previous research my networking event emails.
#2 - Who in your network is connected to the host or sponsors? Can they introduce/connect you prior to the event?
#3 - Who in your network is attending? Have they attended before? Can they give you insights or introduce you and vice versa?
#5 - What's the format for connection? How can you best prepare for that format?
*Did you know, white truffles grow underground next to tree roots and are harvested by trained dogs and in the past, pigs. How did they keep them from eating them? Perhaps that is why they are so rare, the pigs and dogs eat most of them!.
