It is not always easy deciding which networking events to go to. Sometimes you need some decision points to help you make a final go/no go, especially if time is tight.
Here is something to consier, is the networking event you’re attending a one trick pony or are there built in mechanisms to stay connected (follow-up or ongoing events, an event community, group chats/pages, shared projects)?
And hay, nothing against one trick ponies, they can be worthwhile too, but you may plan and prepare differently if you know….

#8 Networking Follow-On Potential
Can this event lead to multiple touch points?
Are there built in opportunities to continue developing relationships?
If you have the potential to continually interact with a group, it's likely higher stakes.
Want some tips on the Practiced Professional’s approach to looking into an event’s follow-on potential?
Let’s take Genius Networking Denver for example:
Genius Networking is a networking community and by doing a Google search you can see they have a Meetup page showing ongoing events as well as over 1,000 members.
Within the Meetup page there is an opportunity to join the community and engage in discussions from the platform.
Next pop over to LinkedIn, do a search, see if they have a page or a group with which to interact.
Do the same with Facebook.
These are just a few examples, but you get the gist. Knowing the potential follow-on opportunities can help you decide if you want to attend an event and how you might continue investing in that opportunity over time.
