We are cruising along to #3 in evaluating if a networking event is high, medium or low stakes. For you School House Rock fans out there, you know that 3, it's a magic number!
Now that we've sniff tested our Host/Sponsor(s) and we've seen how many degrees of Kevin Bacon we are from them, it time to...

#2 Do Some Audience Intel Before Your Networking Event
If this is an opportunity to nuture or reconnect it's likely higher stakes.
Want some tips on the Practiced Professional's approachon doing Audience Intel?
Let’s use an Alignable event as an example:
Go to Alignable, click on the Events icon, and select the Event you are researching.
On the Event page you can see a list of people who have registered (Name, Business, Location).
Skim through to see if you recognize any of the people attending.
If you want to get nerdy, you can throw the "Registered" information into a spreadsheet, go to LinkedIn, add your "Connections" to that same spreadsheet, then do a VLOOKUP to see if any of your LinkedIn connections are going.*
*There are likely many ways to do this cross comparison, some more elegant than others and some requiring access to premium versions of the apps (e.g. LinkedIn Sales Navigator). If you have a favorite way, let us know and we’ll share with the Practiced Professional Community.
